CSIT and AICS signed contract for the 4th WSG 2015

CSIT President Harald Bauer and Bruno Molea, President from Italian member Union AICS and organizing committee LIGNOC, signed during the CSIT EXCOM meeting in Austria the contract for the 4th CSIT World Sports Games taking place next year in Italy. The Games will be held in exact one year from now on from June 7th to 14th 2015 in Lignano at the Northern Adriatic coast of Italy. CSIT and LIGNOC agreed to organize all 15 traditional kinds of CSIT sports plus 15 new sports as demonstration as well as some with Italian tradition.

Timeline - Application for World Sports Games 2017 and 2019

Application deadline for the 2017 - CSIT World Sports Games is October 1st, 2014!

As HAPOEL from Israel with host city Eilat, that presented its candidature for the CSIT World Sports Games 2017/2019 during the last Congress in Blankenberge in Belgium, all applicants for 2017 are encouraged to hold their detailed presentation to the Congress in Lignano 2014. The decision about the Host City 2017 will finally be made at the CSIT EXCOM-Meeting in February 2015.

WSG 2015 - Coordination Meeting in Vienna

Exactly one year prior to the start of the 4thCSIT World Sports Games to be held in Lignano at the Northern Adriatic coast of Italy (June 7th to 14th 2015), CSIT President Harald Bauer met representatives of the organizing member Union AICS (LIGNOC) in Vienna for a coordination meeting.  This meeting was gathered in order to prepare the CSIT EXCOM meeting in "Baden/Vienna", close to the Austrian capital.

Lignano will host CSIT World Sports Games 2015

From February 27th - March 2nd a significant CSIT Executive Committee meeting took place in the countryside of Lapland in northern Finland. Main topic was the election of the Host City for the 4. CSIT World Sports Games 2015. CSIT had two member unions as candidates with INDET in Cancun/Mexico and AICS with Lignano/Italy. The voting among the ExCom members finally brought the result that the CSIT World Sports Games 2015 will be awarded to the city of Lignano.

CSIT Championships 2014 in Mexico, Israel and Finland

The Mexican Member Union INDET (email: indetmex@gmail.com) is inviting to hold Basketball championships from October 5-11, 2014 in Cancun/Mexico. CSIT Member Union HAPOEL from Israel will organize championships in Swimming from May 7-13, 2014 as well as for Tennis from October 23-29, 2014 in Eilat. Send an email for information about registration to info@hapoel.org.il. Championships in Chess will be held from June 4-8, 2014 in Seinäjoki/Finland, organized by CSIT Member Union TUL. CSIT Working Group Physical Activity for Seniors 55 + and member union DAI as host invite interested specialists and multipliers to participate in a formation course September 17 -19, 2014 in Bröndby / Copenhagen, Denmark. After a very successful formation course in 2012 in Austria with the focus on providing inspiration for new activities and to offer "tools" for making activities for the weak elderly, it's time to continue with a new formation course with the focus on all groups of seniors.

Great 100th anniversary celebrations of CSIT ended in Ghent

Friday evening the CSIT anniversary celebrations in Belgium ended with a cruise on the canals of Ghent and a following gala diner. Already in the afternoon the guests of honour and all the attendant representatives of the member unions witnessed a very emotional moment in the "Vooruit".  In the same building where the CSIT was founded in 1913. Berte de Vlieger, the 99-year old daughter of one of the founding fathers, and her two children attended surprisingly the event.  In 1919 her father, Jul de Vlieger, had reorganised the CSIT after World War I and brought it back into function.

Honouring and taking leave of Sports Director Rui Campos

Rui Campos of the Brazilian CSIT member union SESI worked for the CSIT since 18 years. 2008 he was elected as Sport Director and in this function he was the chairman of the Technical Commissions of the different sports. Since 2012 Rui Campos is working full-time for the Brazilian Sport Ministry and therefore has to terminate its CSIT functions due to lack of time and much to CSIT´s regret.

100th anniversary celebrations are starting in Brussels

With a gala in Brussels´ town hall the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of CSIT, the International Workers and Amateurs in Sports Confederation, will start. Numerous international guests will attend the gala. Mayor Freddy Tillemans will welcome the CSIT directory board with CSIT President Harald Bauer as well as the organizers of the celebrations Pierre Janssens and Yves Richard, the Presidents of the Belgian member unions FROS and AFSTB. The celebrations will end with a party in Ghent, the founder city of CSIT.

President Harald Bauer at the Sportiada in Eilat

Beginning of October CSIT President Harald Bauer followed an invitation of the Israeli federation Happoel and attended the opening ceremony of the 33rd Sportiada in Eilat. For 4 days, 8700 athletes participated in the competitions with a lot of joy and fun under excellent conditions. In addition to CSIT  President Bauer, AFSTB President Richard, ATOMSPORT President Ilin and FFST President Mojescik were invited.
