Corona is claiming more and more victims worldwide and is not stopping at the world of sport. It is with great dismay that CSIT must announce the death of one of its friends and companions. The President of our Iraqi member association Iraqi sports community, Mr Akram Al-Awadi, died of Covid-19 in a hospital in Baghdad on Thursday. The CSIT Online Congress scheduled for Friday will start with a minute of mourning to mark the occasion.
The CSIT and its President Bruno Molea convey their sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to their Iraqi friends: "On behalf of all CSIT members, I would like to express my condolences on this tragedy. At our Congress, I will ask all delegates and CSIT partners to observe a minute's silence as a gesture of respect to express the grief of Mr. Akram Al-Awadi and the great loss we are experiencing as a worldwide sports movement".
Following the tragic death of its President, the Iraqi Federation decided to suspend all sporting activities and to suspend the organisation of sports tournaments and participation in Arab and international meetings for a period of 40 days.
