BRIDGES - Photography Workshop in Thessaloniki
Among the various interesting activities, the students also chose photography. The day began with the participants meeting at their school with the people who accompanied them to the offices of the offices of USB, where the seminar was held. As the participants arrived at the seminar, the first smiles appeared on their faces. The workshop facilitator, Luiza, was first introduced to the participants and was given to them some commemorative gifts from the organization. Then, name games and ice-breaking activities followed, in order to create a pleasant atmosphere and make the participants feel welcome.
Throughout the seminar, another office employee was present, so as to guide and assist the young participants in whatever they need. The seminar was presented both in Greek and English so that all participants could follow the course of it. Also, they were given brochures, which included some basic photography rules for starters, that they should follow. Then, in order to understand these rules, some photographic material was presented and the rules on them explained. The best part of the seminar for the participants was the fact that they were given about 30 minutes to go out, explore the city of Thessaloniki and apply these rules to photos that were taken by them. The students split into mixed teams between Greeks and Third Country Nationals and went on to unfold their talents.
At the end of their mission, seeing the results of their photos all together, they discussed their point of views on whether or not they followed the rules mentioned above. The process was completed with many laughs and in general a pleasant mood as the young people expressed their desire to have a second meeting, in other to gain more skills related to photography. The day was completed with the escort of office employees on the safely return of the students to their school.
